Three-quarter investments in national economy 22.5 pct lower y-o-y |

Three-quarter investments in national economy were 22.5 percent down from the similar period of the year before, and by 29.9 percent lower in Q3 2009 compared with the third quarter of 2008, according to provisional data provided by the National Statistics Institute (INS).
Investments materialized in new construction works over the interval January 1 - September 30, 2009 totaled 23.423 billion lei (1 euro trades for 4.2 lei), representing 54.4 percent of the total, compared to 48.1 percent between January 1 - September 30, 2008.
The economic activities which registered the highest investments in the first three quarters of the year are: trade/services (wholesale and retail trade, motor vehicle repair and industry.
A breakdown by structural elements of the evolution of investments in national economy in Q3 2009 compared with Q3 2008 is as follows: plant and equipment (transport vehicles included) - down 43.5 percent; new building works down 17. 9 percent; other expenses - minus 47 percent.
