Earthquake measuring 4.4 degrees on Richter scale, felt in Dobrogea |

A near-surface earthquake struck Bulgaria on Monday morning, being felt in the Dobrogea region (southeastern Romania) too, at 7:48 a.m. In Constanta, the earthquake measured 4.4 degrees on the Richter scale.
The earthquake occurred along the Sabla tectonic plate, with its epicenter in Lostrita, Bulgaria. The previous quake in the Black Sea area occurred on August 5, 2009. The quake had the magnitude of 5.6 degrees on the Richter scale, and struck at 10:50 a.m. at Romania's border with Bulgaria, hitting a 20-km depth. It was felt in the epicenter area, in the southern area of Constanta, in Mangalia and at Bucharest. Since early year there struck several earthquake in the Vrancea area, in the Retezat Mountains and in the Romanian Plaine (Campia Romana) area. AGERPRES |
