Although she received offers from the world's largest companies, which could have given her fabulous amounts of money, Romanian Raluca Van Staden, inventor of a device that detects cancer in its early stages, will launch its invention in Romania. Van Staden said the device that could save millions of lives will go in production soon, at a local company, and will be used by general practitioners because they are the first who come in contact with patients. The device's sensor detects the presence of cancer in the blood, in a stage in which it can be cured 99 percent. The test will cost only a few Euro, while a CAT scan or biopsy cost hundreds of lei. In only six minutes, the patient can find out whether they are prone to breast, gastrointestinal, prostate or ovarian cancer. |
