Ex Labor Minister Marian Sarbu, who quit PSD on Friday to join the independent group led by Gabriel Oprea, partly confirms speculation around his resignation. Sarbu told Realitatea TV on Saturday that he would like to resume his position as labor minister even if the current holder of the position, Mihai Seitan, denied rumors that he intends to resign. |

Tough week is about to end for the social-democrat party, the week after the congress. Several MPs announced immediately they are leaving the party (Serban Mihailescu - so-called ‘Mickey the Bribe’ included). Victor Ponta’s victory seems not to satisfy a lot of social-democrats. |

Russian authorities are keeping under close scrutiny the evolution of relations between Romania and Moldova, and a possible move toward unifying the two countries is considered as a destabilizing evolution in Eastern Europe. Furthermore, Russian press does not hesitate to warn that, if the "unionist project" is carried on, Romania will have trouble on its borders with Hungary (Transilvania) and Bulgaria (Southern Dobrogea), without however explaining what this could mean, as all three states are NATO members and the essential condition is precisely to maintain the current borders between member states. |
